nz blackgloves Head Coach – Victoria Parr
Known across Aotearoa’s combat sports community as Lady Smac, Victoria Parr (née Nansen) is a pioneering force and the heart behind the NZ Blackgloves. A former multiple world kickboxing champion. breaking barriers and leading from the front Victoria made history as the first wāhine referee to officiate a King in the Ring event setting a powerful example for gender equity in the ring. Her impact, however, goes far beyond titles and milestones.
Victoria is the founder of Smac Gym in South Auckland and Featherston—proud grassroots hubs that nurtures fighters of all levels and backgrounds. She has mentored countless athletes and coaches, many of whom now contribute to the sport at regional, national, and international levels.
Raised in a fighting whānau, with martial arts in her blood, resilience in her spirit, and fierce determination in her heart, Victoria’s journey began when she first stepped into the ring at just eight years old. Since then, she has dedicated her life to helping others find their own light through the discipline of fight sport.
As a coach, mentor, and Fight Mum and aunty to a many rangitahi, Victoria brings a rare blend of compassion, courage, and deep understanding of the fighter’s journey.
Her leadership of the NZ Blackgloves is defined by inclusivity, empowerment, and unwavering commitment to the future of Muay Thai in Aotearoa. Under Victoria’s guidance, the future of our sport shines brighter than ever.
