PRESIDENT -Scotty Thomson
Scotty Thomson leads as the President of the New Zealand Muaythai Federation with deep passion and a strong vision for the future of Muaythai in Aotearoa new zealand.
Scotty leads with over 42 years of experience across every corner of the fight world — as a student, fighter, trainer, referee, judge, and promoter. His knowledge and passion for martial arts are second to none, and his contribution to Muaythai both nationally and internationally is a true testament to his dedication.
Scotty has judged more than 1,500 bouts across amateur and professional levels, working with some of the biggest names in combat sports history. As a promoter, he has delivered 51 events, including World Titles and groundbreaking tournaments such as the World’s first 8-woman event. His service to the sport through leading sanctioning bodies such as K-1, WMC, WKA, ISKA, and WMTA is unparalleled.
Under his leadership, NZMF is committed to creating strong pathways for athletes, empowering clubs, and ensuring every member of our community feels supported and valued. Together, we strive to uphold the mana of Muaythai in Aotearoa new zealand and beyond.
Vice President – Matt Williams
Matt Williams brings a wealth of leadership, legal, and governance experience to his role as Vice President of NZMF and Ifma executive committee member. As former CEO of Surf Life Saving New Zealand, Matt has a deep understanding of the sporting landscape in Aotearoa new zeland. His strategic vision and proven track record in high-performance sport, community development, and organisational management make him a key pillar in NZMF’s leadership.
Matt is committed to building a strong, inclusive Muaythai whānau and creating sustainable pathways for athletes, officials, and clubs across the motu.
Secretary – Angela Clark
Angela Clark plays a key role in maintaining the structure and flow of NZMF’s internal operations. As Secretary, she supports the governance of the Federation through clear communication, strong coordination, and efficient administration, ensuring A FOCUS ON TRANSPARENCY, EFFICIENCY, and aligned with our KAUPAPA.
Treasurer – Rachel Walker
Rachel Walker plays a key role in keeping our finances on track. She manages the day-to-day financial operations, ensuring everything is clear, accurate, and aligned with the Federation’s goals amd compliance. With a strong focus on good reporting and accountability, Rachel helps support our growth through careful financial management and oversight.
Kaumātua – Taka Mackey
Taka Mackey serves as the spiritual and cultural guide of NZMF. As Kaumātua, he ensures the Federation remains grounded in kaupapa Māori, providing wisdom, guidance, and cultural leadership. His presence upholds the wairua and tikanga of Muaythai in Aotearoa-new zealand, weaving together tradition, respect, and community.
Together, we’re building a vibrant and sustainable Muaythai community — grounded in kaupapa Māori and powered by passion for our athletes and sport.
